Disrupt - Day 8

March 8 – The devil wants to get you off track. (James 4:7)

Fishing often involves a hook, some bait, and strategic patience. Eventually a fish’s curiosity will lead to its entrapment. The enemy tries to throw us a hook with bait, and then he waits for our moments of doubt, sloth, and pride to tempt us away. What is his bait? It’s lies. Jesus called the Adversary the father of lies (John 8:44). When the enemy throws lies, we must take the thought captive and respond with truth. The cockroach scatters when light is cast upon it.

Prayer Prompt: Father, guard me against temptation; help me to see the enemy’s bait and to avoid believing it. Fill me with a keen mind to live out my faith today.

“The one concern of the devil is to keep Christians from praying.”…He laughs at our toil, mocks at our wisdom – but trembles when we pray!” -Samuel Chadwick
