Disrupt - Day 30
March 30 - “My house shall be a house of prayer!” (Luke 19:46)
Jesus cleansed the temple on Monday of Holy Week. What a sight! Flipped tables, scattered coins, disruptive chaos!
This volatile moment is a reminder to start Holy Week by experiencing God’s cleansing power over our sin. Remember, Christians are described as God’s temple (1 Cor. 6:19). Just as Jesus cleared the temple of sin, so we need to be washed clean with regular confession and cleansing (1 John 1:7-9). Let Jesus disrupt our sin and set us free!
Additionally, do you know what Jesus proclaimed to everyone?
He shouted, “My house shall be a house of prayer, but you have made it a den of robbers.” If we are God’s temple (which we are), then NOT ONLY do we need to be cleansed and holy, BUT ALSO we need to be people of prayer.
Have we turned our body into a den of thieves, consumed with the desires of the flesh—pride, gluttony, lust, materialism, deceit, and covetousness? Or, do we embody the Fruit of the Holy Spirit—love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control? It’s only when we walk in the Spirit that we can pray with great power.
Church, let Jesus clean you up, and then live this week as a walking temple of God.
Prayer Prompt:
Holy Spirit, please search me and reveal if there is any unconfessed sin in my life. [Pause and listen to him]
Father, I confess [name the sin]. I turn from it, and I ask that you would forgive me and wash me clean by the blood of Jesus.
Thank you that I am not condemned, but forgiven and cleansed.
Please fill me with the Spirit to walk in obedience today and to pray with great power!
“God says, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer.’ If we don’t pray, we’re not what God called us to be.” -Jim Cymbala
