Disrupt - Day 1
March 1 - Lord, teach us to pray. (Luke 11:1)
The disciples knew something was diffrent about Jesus’ prayer life. They asked the Son of God to teach them to pray, and he gave them the famous Lord’s Prayer.
I went to a public high school growing up in a city with a strong Catholic heritage, and in the locker room before each football game 50 teenagers would recite the Lord’s Prayer! It’s a prayer with well-known phrases that capture the simplicity of our relationship to God. The words start with reverence and include divine perspective, utter dependence for nourishment, confession, and the request to be protected from temptation. Our Good Shepherd knew what we needed when he gave this prayer template.
As we begin this devotional challenge, posture yourself with the humble request: Lord, teach me to pray.
When we reach March 31, I want each of us to look back and see growth. There is no greater teacher to learn from than the Master himself!
